Concrete Overlay, Micro- topping, and Acid Staining

This concrete patio was converted to a sunroom with carpet long ago. The new owners decided they wanted the room to have stained concrete. The problems were that the existing concrete was not flat, it had 2" concrete dividers everywhere, and multiple concrete pours.

We decided to grind the concrete to somewhat "flatten" the surface. We then applied a primer to bond the overlay.

Then the overlay was applied to float a flatter surface over the existing concrete.

Once the concrete overlay was applied, we decided to then apply a stainable concrete micro topping.

At this point, the fun finally began! We used the same micro topping materials to creat samples of staining colors and techniques. The owner was present and after a few different samples, we decided on using a scofield copper patina and fern green 50/50 mix, applied twice.

The resulting color is beautiful, and we can't wait to seal it. We are going to let it sit overnight and clean/seal tomorrow.

Finished floor with an extra coat of water-based concrete sealer.
